Sarah Newman was born in Miami, Florida in 1982, and began making black and white photographs at the age of seven. She has a BA in Philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis, and is an MFA candidate (2012) at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Her current work explores ways we interact with, define, and understand ourselves as humans in relation to the natural world. For the 2012-2013 academic year, Sarah will be a visiting artist in Malmö, Sweden, where she will be photographing green energy technologies and and their integration in a sustainable urban environment.
